Latest crafty adventure

Around a week ago I bought a cheap pair of plain cotton curtains. The light comes in through the gaps in madams room so need something to cover them. Well, seeing as I have the sewing bug, I pondered over what to do to them. Here is how they look so far. There are a few little touches I need to add on, but so far I am happy with them.



The birds have been ironed on with bondaweb and sewn. Stalks are ribbon, as is the "sun" and the flowers are made from semi circles of fabric.

Hope they look good once they are up !

Feeding the ducks, madam style !

My girl had her first experience with the ducks, thankfully wellies are a hit as it was rather muddy.
We have a fascination with birdies at the moment, so the fact the ducks were close and not flying away was very exciting for her.


I love seeing her grow up into a gorgeous little girl, her personality is blossoming and she loves to giggle.

I'm not sure the ducks were very impressed that they didnt get much of the bread meant for them



I'm glad it wasn't stale bread !! x

Fun at the park

Yesterday was lovely and sunny, after a food shop and my madams nap I decided we should have some fun at the park. Luckily, we had the whole place to ourselves. I set her our things down, parked up hr trike and let her run free.

She stll cant quite get the hang of climbing up the steps to the slide, although at home she can get up the stairs in seconds ! The slide was a big hit today



The swings still arent a favourite, purely as she loves to run around ! My girl is definately an outdoorsy type.

A girl can never have too many shoes...

How true is the statement "A girl can never have too many shoes"? Answer ? very. Even if you are just under 15 months old it seems !

My daughter has lots of footwear at the tender age of 14 months. Thats the trouble with funky coloured tights, jeans and trouser combinations. Shame they are rather an expensive necessity.

I have to add that slippers have been a nightmare to find. I have bought her so many pairs that do not stay on at all, some just come off within 2 steps. I have now found the perfect pair, at £8.99 not the cheapest for the size of her, but every girl needs comfy slippers. Daisy Roots, who also have a beautiful range of leather slip on shoes have soft fleece lining inside and a non slip underside and best of all. They stay firmly put. Perfect.

Village people "you're not local"

Growing up in  a large town, full of roads, motorways, cars and concrete didn't seem such a bad thing, that is until you move into a village. Now when I look out of the windows I can now see fields, breathe in fresh air and best of all we have animals close by.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't change how I grew up but for my little girl, I know we definately made the right move. For example, I took her 5 mins walk down the road and we got to stroke these beautiful horses



Better news was to come when I made friends wth my next door neighbour, she owns them !! We've fed them apples and stroked them knowing they are now friendly.

5 minutes down the other road are highland cows and horses which are used for dressage purposes, another 5 minutes and there are fields full of sheep. Yes, during the muck spreading it smells worse than a dirty nappy but this is country living.

I am just waiting for the words "you're not local" this may be true, but for me.... this is home !!!

Sleep is for the weak... apparently

So, at 14 months we still haven't cracked the full nights sleep every night and i'm stumped as to why. We get the odd night of full 7-6ish sleep and yet we don't differ in routine so I am confused?

From birth, my little madam has decided sleeping wasn't her thing, taking hours to settle and sleeping 20 minute patchs. I'm sure you've got the "walking zombie" image in your mind, well it felt worse! Crying at random comments and in front of the Health Visitors, whom I must compliment in their care and worry of my sleep deprived state, calling me up and even coming round. In hindsight I do have the concern they didn't think I was coping.

I have tried the dreaded controlled crying sleep training, although not as strict as the guidelines. If I thought madam was distressed and not just whinging then I went in and it did work... for a time.

Here's hoping she clicks into realising how amazing sleep is... all night, in her bed preferably !!

Today was another new experience for my little lady. I braved a new toddler group, it's getting to the stage I know we'd benefit from going to a toddler group but after the comfort of a small baby group going into the unknown is a scary prospect for me.

With the rain hammering down outside and another day in on the cards, I got us ready, took a deep breath and drove us there. We've been to one recently and it turned out to be my worst nightmare, hundreds (slight exageration) of kids running around, screaming, jumping and generally doing what kids should do. It was all a little too much for me and i'm ashamed to say it really put me off.

Well, I am very pleased to say today's trip to the unknown was an absolute success and we loved it !! It's run by Surestart Childrens Centre and i'm hoping and praying that the cuts don't affect them !
We started off playing with toys and running around getting to know the room and staff, me following behind and making appropriate noises reading books etc,there was a table set up to make pictures with glue, sequins and feathers. I was so impressed they had different styles of chairs so that I could strap the little lady in to save her running off and here is her first attempt


Only a few handfuls were pulled away from her mouth, the little tinker !!

Next there was a table set up outside, little gardening spades, a bowl of soil, plant pots and several seeds were set out and the kids were shown how to grow their own plants. The little lady enjoyed hitting the soil with the spade. We managed to get a full plantpot full of soil and she shook the cress seeds into the pot and covered again with soil. Hey presto, her first cress plant was made and is now sitting proudly on the kitchen windowsill... fingers crossed I remember to water it !



We will definately be going again, it's on twice weekly and it's only a 5 minute car ride away. All in all, a great start to the day
